Pony: No.. nothing listed about 2 slashes. Read all of the above threads, and all threads that were linked inside those threads.

I cant get it to work. Hybrid was helping e online but he had to go.

I put it in my documents folder. I can get it to activate the screan but when i click create lights an error occurs and says:
"Error: File not found.: Cuser added imageocuments and SettingsdMy Documentsmayascripts/GIJoe.lights"
On the bottom. I cant figure out what to do next...

use 2 slashes.. hear I'll find my line in the mel..

hear we go. Make it like this.. of corse with your drive structure. and you should be ready to go..

string $pathL = "C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\maya\\scripts\\GIJoe.lights";

yours might be like "C:\\Documents and Settings\\maya\\scripts\\GIJoe.lights"

I know funky isn't it ?

Pony, actullay it's not funky at all if you know programming... the 2 slashes are needed because if you only put one (C) will try to recongize it as a command like \n for a new line or \t for tab and so on.. so if you try to put \documents and settings it'll think that's supposed to be a command when it's a path and to get around this you'll need 2 slashes

I still think its kinda funky.. But now you have me wandering. LOL I meen a command to what like \n ? I'v proged asimbaly, basic, just a little C++, bean a DOS user since the origanal IBM PC. and I havne't seen anything that would have a problem with it..
wait.. I haven't done html yet.. so are thoughs command arguments for html ?? I would gess they were for new line or tab .. see my best gess was it was a unix convention, and the programers that did the translater for mel was born and raised with UNIX on the paccifyer but it was just a wild gess at that.

\n is newline in a standard c/c++ style string (also in Java an other languages), \t is tab, \r is carriage return, \\ is backslash (thus the use in filenames). There are alot of these escape sequences, any book on c/c++ ought to have an appendix with them.

Yeah. the double slashes were what kept it from working.

Now i just have a problem to make it so it like.. makes the light big enough to encircle my object. Any help?

thanks for clearing up the slashes.

Twisted, in your outliner there should be a GIJoe lighting group. Select that hole group there in the outliner and it will have all the lights selected.. thin just use your scale tool and increase the size. they should scale up and around just fine.

If you use directional lights you shouldn't have that problem. Althought all the little light thing might be in the way of a clean view in the ports.
