As you all know I havent done much Maya work latley
Well what I have been doing is learning drawing . I always lacked the basic art skills but I bought a few intro to drawing books on cartoon characters for animation and this is what i learned
Well these are all characters in the book (Not My Design) But YES I think I have made progress. It will make me a better Mayee

yeah good start.. I don't see much for eraser marks, so your doing pretty cool. not that working the pic to get it just how you want is bad.. I looks like I use more eraser on mine. LOL
I used to draw a lot back in school now ive been doing more 3d, but i got a lot of drawing supplies for x-mas, and one thing you might wnt to try is charcoal pencils. I got a pack of them and i love them. They are great for anime, manga style because the sharp, hard dark lines they can create, and the shading levels. Not sure for cartoon style though.

Joe. Good start you got there. A good way to learn basic drawing is actually tracing images. It will give you a more hands on feel of why lines go the way the do. You'll see how proportions and details are added and you'll get the feel of the pen/pencil better so that you're not always putting down thick black outlines. (Which will also give you a better understanding of pressure sensitivity as used in graphics tablets). Get some anatomy books and learn to draw some basic shapes. Notice how the characters are drawn and observe what shapes we used to create them.
