ww2 fighter plane

Over the past summer i got to take the Intro class offered over at GNOMON. Anyways we had to model, texture ( i use the term texture loosely heh...more like have a nice shader for it user added image), and light it for the final.

Anyways i'm putting a portfolio together atm to be sent along with my college applications. The texture i used is really just a ramp shader lol! faked to look like camo...so i decided to do a nice GI+FG render without the crazy camo. Turned out pretty good so i wanted to get some C&C on it.

Here's the shot i turned in for my final

looks great. good use of the GI and FG. It would be nice to see the the cone for the props looking like a separat peace. Back on the top edge of the tail. Kind of close to whare it starts out of the body.. what is that. is it a problem or is it that way on the real plain ?

it's a problem. Towards completion the body surface wasn't cooperating so i had to detach the entire thing into smaller sections and rebuild the surface. The part that connects the fuselague(sp?) to the tail had an error during rebuilding i think...which caused it to change shape and not flow evenly between the the fuselague and tail

The only constant is change...

I like it. The first image looks great, for some reason i think this would look good with a toonshader on it. Not sure why... but.. semes like it would work really well. Maybe you should give it a shot and test a render.

I like the model but you should made a custom texture for it. maybe some rust and rivets, also the prop cone seems a bit too long.

Toon shader? --> Great idea!

plane

Looks pretty good, I like the cockpit, but i thought it could look better if the cockpit was further up the body of the plane in the first third or something. Keep modelling!
