Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Particles interacting with boolean polygons

I have a scene of a rocket launch. The rocket starts on a launch-pad, the engines fire, and off it goes - up into the sky. For effect, the rocket emits particles from the engine nozzle.

The launchpad that I modeled is a flattened polygon cube with vertical holes cut out by performing a polygon->boolean->difference with a couple of cylinders. This launchpad has been made to collide with the particles.

The idea here is that at the beginning of the animation, the particles will shoot through the holes. However, the particles do not do this... they collide with the holes as if there were a surface covering them. Is this fixable or do I need to remodel the launchpad without using boolean difference?

I'm sorry I dont have the animation posted, I will do so tonight when I get a free moment.

If the booleaned surface's history has been deleted, the boolean objects should no longer be in existance to bounce off of.
