Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

is this a problem with the normals?

I am in faces selection mode and I see the image bellow.

How do I fix this? I want the surface to be as smooth as the others next to it.

Also, what created this problem?

Thanks!

it looks like you might have tried to extrude a face and then not extruded it or haven't undone the extrude properly?

the best thing to do is merge the verts at the corners -should get rid of those very small faces

cheers

thanks! that was the exact problem! The faces were so small even after your explanation and zooming in, I couldnt see them! So I just had fate, selected vertices in that area, merged and bingo!

thanks again. WIP of my model coming soon..
