The Oliphant-converting nurbs to poly

hi, im using maya 6.0 and I'm having a hard time converting from nurbs to poly correctly. It keeps messing up and getting errors, how would i fix this?

I've ran through another problem when converting. I saw in the video where subD was converted into poly's and it still has about the same amount of poly faces. When I do that, it smoothes and makes a ton of poly faces. In the video, it was done so fast, i rwinded and still cant figure what he did. He pressed on an icon that did that, but I dont have that icon. What exactly was that?

hi under the modify tab find the convert and then click on the little box next to subd to poly and set the tesselation method to vertices and then convert and it will convert back to low poly form.

Open the script editor to see what the problem is.
