Help with pump please

as u can see im making a pump. i have animated it to squeeze in out. but when it squeezes in the ring also squeezes. how do i fix that

Whatever deformation or scale you are applying, do not attach it to the ring. If it is just a scale and the ring is a child of the object that is animating, unparent it. Then you could attach a locator to the tip of the pump, and assign a point constraint so that the ring follows the constraint, but does not deform with the rest of the object.

ok thx i thoubght i sahouldve used a locator but wasnt sure thx again user added image
