apache texturing?????

hello there,

I'm a bit stuck on the apachie texturing - have got the whole helecopter uv mapped but can't get the first bump map to work!!!! Followed all the instructions and have played around with the settings for the bump map - shows up in the view port when you turn hardware rendering to bump m, but when i render it there is no change to teh flat surface of the left wing.

thanks in advance, f user added image

Hard to say... Tried rendering closer, changing the view angle or lighting to see if there is a small bump?

Can you post a screenshot of your shader network etc?

That's odd... what kind of values you have in Bump Depth, Bump Filter and Filter Offset?

??

bump value 1, bump depth 4, bump filter 0.099, bump offset 0.0

Is there an way of turning off the bump map in the render dialogue box by mistake?

hmmmm..... still not doin anything!!!

cheers for your help but it still isn't doin anything. Ok... perhaps its something else!!!

The File attributes of the texture controlling the amount of bump is set to Quadratic. Is this right or should it be set to something else????

don't understand why this isn't workin - becoming a bit frustrating!!!

HAVE WORKED IT OUT !!!!!!!

knew it had to be something really simple that i was doing wrong - the only light i had in the scene was an ambient light, which gives no shadows!!!

Doh... didn't even cross my mind... anyhoo, it's not actually the shadows alone which makes the effect of bump. Specular highlighs does this too...

Glad you got it sorted out user added image

That raises another point though.. In the tut, you supply a ref image for doing the bump map for one of the wings. Where did you get the reference images to do the rest of the models bump textures ?

Is it possible to zip up the images you used and post them? It would save us a lot of time searching for the right images

Cheers

I used the plastic model as my guide and took some artistic liberties so I didn't really have ref pics user added image...
