This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
I am having trouble converting a subd object to a polygon object, I get these strange black faces around certain edges in the viewports as well as when I render.
As far as I know it's an artifact of the conversion from sub-d to poly's. If you select the object in question and then go to Edit Polygons- Normals- soften/harden----open the option box and move the slider to all harden and the select apply, that should take care of the problem.
