Trouble on the PuppyTutorial

So I was going through the puppy tutorial and I happened to get myself in this little snag. When I created the nurbs sphere for the dogs head it doesn't come out looking the same as his. You can see the lines on the other side of the sphere on mine, and yet on his there are no lines to be found on the other side. This situation seems to bring many problems to me when I begin shaping the head because one side of the head will move to the position where I want it but the other side won't. ( I would put pictures but I can't seem to figure out how to!)

There is probably a simple answer for this, but as you can see I'm am very much a newbie at maya. Thanks for any help.
