Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Question on Ferrari Modeling Tut.

Hello All,

I'm pretty new to Maya, but have been using LW since the mid 90's. I thought I would start off my Maya learning by going through Robert Scott's Ferrari tut. There is one thing in his work flow which confuses me. After modeling the car with Poly's, converting to Sub-D's and mirroring, he converts from Sub-D's back to polys. Why? Is it for performance reasons? Can someone explain.

Thanks,
Bob

well, polys are more well developed in maya as compared to sub-d surfaces.
But mostly it is just his personal preferance to convert back to polys
