3d glass blown animals for frontpage

Hi, I'm redoing my portfolio page in my spare time and am leaning towards something like this. Good idea or bad idea? Any comments ro critques are really apreciated.

That's such a neat and original idea! Definitely go with it. You could have like a glass display case in which your work shows up, to go with the theme of glass. Just an idea user added image

I've been wanting to build a site with some work on so I can approach a university with it; would you mind recommending some software if you know about that kind of stuff? I'd really appreciate it
