Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character
i am looking to make a cube where the material is very transparent at the top, and then gradients down so that at the mottom the material is opaque. is there a way of doing this?
i just thought i could easily do that with a texture map on the transparency. but is there any way of doing that so that light will shine through the transparent bits?
use a ramp texture, click on the option box of the transparency tab and select the formentioned ramp texture black is totally transparent white totally none transparent
