This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
as per my wip thread I'm thinking of modeling a vest for my character. Rather than model in detail, would it be possible to model it very basically, and then "wrap" it around my original torso using a deformer (so it takes on the shape of the muscleature underneath)?
I've read the help files and they're vague at best on wrap deformers - anyone know how I would do this?
just found a plugin called "polyshrinkwrap" which sounds perfect (moves vertices on the new geometry towards the target mesh until they collide - good for what I want, since Maya's own transfer attributes feature would try and match the vert position, which I don't want).
It doesn't have any installation instructions though. I've google on how to install a mll file, but they seem to be plugin specific. Anyone able to help with the installation?
