Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

render results : large file size?

I just rendered an animation of 1000 frames with a resolution of 320x240 , no ray tracing and low quality resolution.

And YET, the resulting .avi file turned out being about 300MB !!!!!!

Is there a way to make it smaller?

thanks,

Maya's .avi render isnt very good.

You should render in image format and use free software like VideoMach (or use Premeir or After Effects if you have it) to combin these into a .avi. You'll get a smaller file size.

Yeah, but no but yeah but no....

The reason it is so big is because it's uncompressed video.

To reduce it's filesize you'd have to encode it with a video codec.
