Polka Dot Spotlight

Why would a single black on white spot texture applied to the color input of a spotlight give me a lovely polka dot pattern instead of a single black spot? The coverage and repeat UV are both set to 1,1 on the place2dTexture node.

Hi dave. Not yet. Still intrigued to try and figure this one out. It must be something simple that I'm overlooking.

Thanks honestdom. You put me on the right track. The lightshape was not scaled evenly. I scaled it up in the Z axis only to help with the alignment. I should have scaled it in all 3 axis.
