particles instancer troubles - just tiny black dots? (molecular movies tut)

well this is my 2nd question of the day - i've clearly tried a tutorial thats a bit too advanced for me. (i've started escape studios 'intro to maya' online, but it doesnt cover this subject in the module at all, but i shall stick to it from now on)

im stuck on https://www.molecularmovies.com/img/p...sCapillary.pdf again. sad face.

when i select my erythrocyte, then follow the instructions for the particles instancer, i only get tiny black specs flowing through the capillary. i've tried searching the interwebs and here but cant find anything on this.

i've put the original erythrocyte in the shot so you can see how big it is compared to those black specs.

any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks
nicky.

oh sweet fanny the tutorial doesn't tell you to select the object and then select the curve flow, its just, "select erythrocyte model and then go to particles instancer".
