attaching surfaces help

I have two lofted nurbs im trying to attach when i do attach them is shows in my outline that i have done so. But it wont show the attached surface as one object. All i have is the the orignials of the two lofts. so my question is why is the attached surface not showing for?

delete history from the lofts and it is also good practice to rebuild both surfaces and be sure the isoparms match going across the surfaces or are a multiple of 2
