This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Layers....

How can i place images planes on diffrent layers to the main work area? It really annoying the you select vertices and you moves the plane with it.... user added image

check out the image below...

you can click on either to make the layer... then select the object and then you can right click the layer and add selected object

yeah, once you have the object on a layer, you can click the first box to turn on/off the visibility.

The second box is to toggle between Normal, Template, and Reference modes. Template makes the object visible in outline, but not selectable. Reference makes the object visible like normal, but not selectable. Normal is normal. user added image
