looking great!!! don't stop mate keep it up. I think a car model it's going to be my next project I have being doing a lot of Organic modeling lately. But that looks like a lot of work and it is because of the interiors. looking pretty good so far. user added image

back on with the porsche.....making headway on the interior today, gearstick column and satnav area, dashboard base and aircon pieces....

drivers side work to follow...steering wheel, speedometer etc...

hopefully got a clear week where i can move on with this.

never even heard of a Ka, initially thought you meant a Kia ..........
we don't have those cars over here, everyone's gotta be big over here

love the Porsche , especially the look of the last shot, cool coloring/render and contrasting image
will be watching for the interior user added image

Thanks beast, yeah, I liked the render, ....wasn't aiming for it just playing around in photoshop, and that's the direction it went.

By the by, are you a Call of Duty player beast?

that's not me, have an X-Box 360 just for the kids that come over during parties/gatherings
But myself, too old to make fingers work them dad-burned controllers, need too many combo's too fast
With X Box, I'm lucky to be able to do the Tiger Woods Golf, and some racing games (only because I have an awesome steering wheel that actually works user added image ) other than that, I'm definitely a gaming loser user added image

to get that effect in PS, were you playing around with the levels ?? or running some sort of 3rd party plug-in ??

ha ha, ............it was a long shot I thought, but Ive wondered before so thought i'd get it out of the way user added image

With the Photoshop, just lots of experimenting really....i like using the high pass filter, when sharpening. Unsharp mask works for me sometimes, but with that porsche render i screened a couple of high pass passes, which helped 'crispen' it up. Other than that i think a colour filter was used somewhere along the line....a blue....which i overlayed. i duplicated the background and gaussian blurred it a bit to help smooth it, and i used the exposure adjustment layer a couple of times, after the high pass layers i think, to help readjust the tones, as the high pass layer you screen over the top, which sucks out alot of the contrast.
If i get stuck at points and run out of ideas i'll just duplicate my image and try different blend modes over the top, adjust transparency etc.

The problem I find I have is finding the right balance as I tend to go a bit overkill in Photoshop I think, use to many layers and tweaks, sharpens and filters, and end up distorting whatever it is too much.

No plug-ins were used. Just lots of the basics.

one more for the night, bit more colour in this one.


modelled the brake discs. pleased with the modelling of those. and started the steering wheel also, made a solid start on that too. (not in the render)

Looking good Ben, the only thing I can see that looks odd is the area marked with red, average verts might do the trick..................dave

i've never used the average vertices tool..sounds good in theory...i'll give it a whirl.
