This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
I am trying to model a golf ball. How can I get all the polys of the same shape to make the "dents"? or is there another way? I first thought of creating just a texture with bump maps but did'nt succeed.
THX for any help
When the only tool you use is a hammer, every problem begins to look like a nail.
I now used a poly sphere with the following texture as bump map. Not really satisfied with the result - the bumps seem to end up in a black dot...
Any recs?
btw: is there any way i can attach 2 files in the same post?

hmm.. i did not try what i am going to post, but anyway, increase the number of subdivision of height and axis,, goto polygons -> tool options and make sure that there is no check mark beside "Keep faces to gether", then region select all the faces and then goto edit polygons -> extrude face... now modify one face, automatically all the faces will be edited too... then smooth
