3December 2003

Is anyone going to this event? I went last year but only in the evening and watched a few flicks and looked at some of the books and software available.

I was thinking of goin along to one of the seminars for rigging a face seeing as I like character animation. Has anyone been on one of these last year and are they any good? Are they worth the £60?

I wait with baited breath...

Flippin eck... This venue must be popular... or is it that most UK Maya users here are from up North or from the West Country?

Am I the only Cockney Anchor here?user added image

Hmm I kinda feel your pain K-Man user added image It must be a beautiful coutry Finland but a bit of bummer for things like 3D events.

Mind you they do have the thing in Copenhagen once a year, I would love to go to Siggraph myself.

The one true 3D event in my country, the DMW, isn't happening this year... don't know why. The 3December event is the next best thing for me user added image

I bet you're glad you have the internet!

I was going to go that 3D Festival in Copenhagen by ferry and car but I would have traveled alone so it was a no go...

Maybe next year...

About a year ago I was happy because I learned that SIGGRAPH 2002 would be here in San Antonio... Then I was sad because I learned that it had already happened.

I feel your pain.... user added image

3December Revue

Well, I got there nice and early and wandered around the displays: 3D World, Escape Studios, HP and others - but not much - there never is... But I got free beer and a little veggie lunchbox which didn't have anthing in it cos Kev's Rat (Stinky) had eaten it all and left his leaving card in it with a nice note:

"Gottcha ya bastard - yum, yum!!!"

Anyway, at least he didn't dive into me beer (he wouldn't fit in the bottle) user added image

The main things that I was interested in were the book shop where I can look at all those lovely books close up, although I don't buy them cos I can get them cheaper on the Net... and all the CDs and DVDs - all a bit pricey.

Didn't buy anthing there but went into the show thing whatever it is and listened and watched the show reels and stuff. The 20years of Alias Wavefront was interesting, The Motion Picture Company was good, the nVidia thing was alright, the bloke talking about adverts was alright. Lots of goodies were being given out and prizes like games and computers.

By now I was a bit tired and started to get figgety on my poxy wooden chair. So I went back to the bookshop and sod's law Jason Busby came on and I missed the first 5mins. His was the best bit how to get your characters into Unreal 2004 from Maya. Gonna have a bash at that one user added image

Didn't stay till the bitter end I knew it would take me nearly two hours to get home so I buggered off at 7.30.

All in all not bad, I think next year I will actually do one of the hands on seminars rather than just sit, watch and listen…
