Maya 2012 Characterization Distorts Skeleton

Hi,

I have a rigged character that I want to animate.
I’m testing, using the help docs and a supplied mocap.

Whan I run the characterization tool (I have MB HIK naming) it runs OK (indicator turns green),
but my skeleton and character distort.

See attached screenshot.

What am I missing?

Any help appreciated.
