Bussines related question

Well I have a bussines related question like the threadtitle suggested:

I have been thinking about something for some time now and that basically is making a 4 part animation saga based on an existing franchise /IP, now I know that it is very difficult to get even 1 movie made, but I just want to know where to start...

If you know why I want to make a movie, I have been thinking lately ( a very rare occurance indeed user added image ) and am wondering why I am making a showreel, I know that it is because I want to work in the CG industry, but having worked for others/companies for the past 12-14 years has made me realise that working for others isn't something I like to be doing for the rest of my life ( since you are always dependant on a supervisor seeing your commitment/hard work which isn't always judged to it's value), but it could be that I have just worked at the wrong companies user added image.

I am also inspired after reading a " little" book called the illusion of life ( a must read) which leads me to believe that anything is possible if you apply yourself to it.

SO if someone has some sensible tips please let me know.

LOL I work for myself mastone (ok Survey)...and its a pain in the ring sometimes...but yes you do have certain freedoms you dant have under a company...however...you do get all the headaches...getting subbies to do quality work (cant do it all yourself)...on time...etc etc etc...so that would be the first thing to think about. Staff (help you will need)...equipment...etc these are outlays that you will have to wear the cost of...if thats what you mean by making the saga.

As for supervisors in a company you work for..well its exactly the same but this time around you will be dealing directly to a client of some sort to sell your work...trust me...it aint easy. I deal with designers and architects all the time mate...and I have some specially made duct tape to tie me down when I want to break somebodies ribs (yes it gets that bad). Now I know construction is a different fish but the general arrangements, timelines, designers and clients are the same.

If you could start out with some shorts and try to get it onto a youth TV or something similar..why not..good luck with it mate...it will be a long road as Im sure you know.

cheers bullet
