Chrome ball

i did a forum search and so far nobody has asked this, but does anyone know anyplace i can buy a chrome ball or a mirror ball? i've been searching but still nothing.

Actually You don't need a sphere... I bought a soup ladle in a local store, it's really cheap and works great!
There are different models, but it shouldn't be difficult to find one that is half spherical.
The handle could serve as support (bending it and adding a base.
They are really reflective, so they are good for HDRI.

thanx for the replies guys. train_ucl i haven't been to a mall in forever but i'll go check it out. mascal, that's some hardcore stuff, i guess i never thought about a soup ladle, ill check that out also. right now, i'm eyeing those 'chinese health balls' on amazon.com . thanx for the suggestions.

Might want to check where they sell supplies for the movie industry. If you ever watched the Star Wars DVDs, you'll notice they carry around a half-chromed sphere to get lighting references. It's possible you might find one there.

Otherwise, another way to do it would be to go buy a metal globe of the world then take it to your local chrome plating specialist. user added image

hey i found a place, i'm eyeing the one for $8.49 but i haven't really investigated yet (gotta get some sleep first) but i thought i'd post incase it helps someone else out.
