This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
For class i need to make a dynamic test of like paper being blow by wind into a wall and stop, or into a pole and kinda wrapping around it. but i don't know how to do this. whenever i make a plane a softbody i can't really get it to act right at all.
Gohan: That'd be nice, but at the same time i'd kinda need to know how it was done, because i think i'd have to do it again/explain it to him. Plus i'd like to learn how
you can do it with softbodies or cloth. You can use a barrier constraint to do the wall part of it. And then use an air field with drag and turbulence to blow the cloth along.
here's what i got in 5 mins. Trick is to make the soft bodies particles collide with the cylinder. Particles >> Make Collide
I've attached the scene file (it's for maya 06). You will have to play with it to get the collision stuff exactly right. There is a lot of intersecting of the plane with the pole at the moment (mainly because the pole is low poly and the plane has no thickness.)
