maya software ligthing

Ive been lighting a recent project with just maya software rednering, I create one spotlight then jsut duplciate it 7 times around 45 degrees. When I IPR render to change textures its fine but after i change the camera angle it renders black, when i create new geometry and also create new lights it still renders black. Why is this? Everyhtign I can think of is set to default, including the duplicate options on the lights.

Hmm, perhaps make sure that it's rendering All rather than Selected in the Render Globals?
