Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

Hi I am new to Maya and I have version 5.0. I need to know how I can animate a basic space ship. I'm not sure how to do the keying so any help would be appreciated.

Well what do you want the ship do do? Just move, open up, blow up, or what?

ok, first of all

at frame one, u select the ship u have, press s, move the fram to what ever number that fits u,then rotate, move where u want it to move to, and then u press s again, and then press play

no i need more of a basic thing. i don't have the ship drawn yet because I can't figure out how to use the tools properly. Is there a basic tutorial for this?

Well, I dont understand what you want. You cant make an animation from no geometry or stuff. You need to have the ship created before you do anything. I suggest you just use the videos from the startup video menu.
