Maya exporting

I seem to have every Maya error in the book...

Exporting from Maya to WRL using Maya's own WRL plugin leads to this:
user added image
The two back hexagons (which should be holding the barrels together, though seen here clip INTO the barrels) are rotated incorrectly... this is not much for my buddy in 3dsMax but its about the best error I had sofar (once had the entire Nebelwerfer completely unusable -- random normals, UVmapping gone, geometry missing, etc.)

Any help? (Or are exporters really this flimsy?)

If you go to Polygons>Cleanup it will tell you which components you need to delete, merge, ect.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.
