Binding problem

I'm following a tutorial and incorporating it on my own model. The problem is that my model has been combined and is one single entity and i want to bind my skeleton to it. In Kurts tut, his model is in separate pieces ie, head, arms, torso etc. When I bind the skin to my model and try to move the head, half of the body moves in unison. How do I get around this>??

If you believe in telekinesis, raise my right hand.

not sure exactly what the scenario is, but before binding, make sure you delete your combined mesh's history to ensure that all the old data prior to the combine is flushed.
