I thought you could just turn on skylight somewhere in the camera

the scene is not being lit by the light, its just catching the shadows. the sphere is what is lighting the scene.

Hey man I like your nice simple tutorial, but one problem I couldn't find. How do i get to the render stats option for the sphere?

should be in attribute editer.
