I have a LG 20.1" Widescreen TFT-LCD + HDCP

720p (1280x720) works good for it, and 1050p (1680x1050) is its native resolution.

If you have a manual, look for your monitor's "Native Resolution"

That or just give us the model# and we'll Google it.

Make sure you're running proper drivers for your monitor too, or its native resolution may not be displayed.

I realize that you have been able to fix the problem, but here's my two cents anyway.

As Phopojijo mentioned make sure that you are running at the native resolution. I have two 19" widescreen displays hooked up to my machine and I've also gotten some quirky display issues at some of the resolutions. Another point to make is that the term "widescreen" for a TV display is typically 16:9, but in the computer world 16:10 is also really popular. Mine are 16:10, and run at 1440 by 900 each. Make sure that you know the correct aspect ratio of your unit.
