Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Looking For Organic Modeling Suggestions...

Hello everyone,

I'm interested in learning "organinc" modeling techniques.

I assume its done with NURBS, correct me if I'm wrong.
The last organic model I made was from "Maya Fundementals 4.5" book & I felt I learned nothing.....

I'd like to model some animal/creature while carefully being taught the organic techniques.

Which one should I choose?

T-Rex
The Oliphant
Centaur

Any Input Is Appreciated

no, organic is not always nurbs modeling. i can name artists who use polygons and even Sub-d surfaces for organic modeling.
i am one of those who use all 3 occasionally but i prefer polys...... it all depends on what your most productive surface type is.

and i personally suggest the organic modeling 2 DVD(where you model a zombie)

i dont know which would be better. T-Rex, The Oliphant, Centaur, i have done the centaur, and i can tell you i really put my modeling like, to the next level. iam sure all those three are good. but if you are like me (a one time a huge lotr fan) i would choose the oliphant. but still your chose really. there all very good.

A pint of example is worth a gallon of advice!!

Hey,

Thanks for the input guys... user added image

The "Centaur" has both human & animal features so I can experience modeling both types quad/bipedal.

The "Oliphant" body doen't look to challanging. But the armor seems intricate. I wonder if thats nurbs converted to polys or subd's

The "TRex" is just cool. But its been done to death.

The "Dragon", is this on Dvd? Or is it a online tutorial only?

I'll way my options................I wish some the dvd authors would append their opinions in this thread
