Game Rendering

This is a games (general) related question for anyone.

When your rendering a model for a game (in the industry) how would you render it, or should I say view it?

Via the software render or a screen grab from maya? just thinking that a render would include lights and such to show off the model, where this would not be the case unless its inside the game? But a sceen grab would show off the textures as they are (depending on the grapgics card....

Hope you get my drift.

Cheers Guys.
