mental ray render warn

In the output window when i render with mental ray I get stuff like this

RCFG 0.5 warn 542002: angle between normal and geometry normal > 90 degrees
RCFG 0.3 warn 542002: angle between normal and geometry normal > 90 degrees

it'll be repeated about 5 or 6 times, and thats it on the output window, it doesn't show render time or anything. I have occlusion render going. and I'm still new to mental ray (first time using it) so I don't know if it's an option I have set up wrong, the fact that I have poly's and nurbs in the scene, no lights set up...

--------

When I do use a light source I get this

RCGI 0.2 warn 362004: no photons stored after emitting 10000 photons
RCGI 0.3 warn 362004: no photons stored after emitting 10000 photons
RCGI 0.2 error 361053: no photons stored after emitting 1000000 photons (canceling emission job)

and it repeats, and then also shows the message I mentioned up top.
My light:
Depth Map Shadows - Off
Raytrace Shadow - On
Photons - On - Default Settings

No objects in the scene are "derived from maya" under the mental ray tab.

The renders come out but they never show a time and I feel like these little errors and warnings shouldn't be happening.
Hopefully I made since in my post and you can help

Oh yeah I'm using Maya 6.5
