Maya Mental Ray render layers question

Hello,

I recently have learnt about render layer overrides. this has been useful when wanting to render certain objects at a lower "quality" in the render setting and somer objects at a higher one. I was wondering is there now a way of maintaining those differences in the settings but to batch render the shot with both render layers together (as oppose to them rendering separately and having to composite them after).

Thank you!! user added imageuser added imageuser added image
