Mental Ray won't batch render

Hello,

When I try render with mental ray I get the following:

// Result: Saving temporary file: /Users/lcladmin/Dropbox/Brew/Body/scenes/render test__369.mb //
// Result: Rendering with mental ray... //

That's it, It never actually starts rendering, It just stays like that for hours, This happens even when I create a new scene with nothing in it or just a cube and try render at draft quality in mental ray. Even after creating and setting a new project it does this.

I am using mac osx version 10.6.8
processor: 2x2.8 GHz Quad_core intel xeon
memory:6 gb 800 mhz ddr2 fb dimm

I get no error it just stays on // Result: Rendering with mental ray... //

Well it render some times but once it fails to render in a scene, using mental ray, it refuses to render agains even if i start a new scene in the project. In order to render again I need to reset the Mac and delete the render log files, empty the trash bin and make a new project and then it will let me render in mental ray till I do some combination of things that Mental ray does not like, It seems to happen whenever I try use any of the mental ray Materials. It renders fine in the View port but gets stuck when I batch render.

And no I checked the fire wall is off.

In the batch options, increase the verbosity to 5 , try batching again and then check your mayaRenderlog.txt

Speaking of options, what are your batch settings? What's in your output window as you try to batch?

Speaking of options, what are your batch settings? What's in your output window as you try to batch?

Nothing Changes it still says Rendering with mental ray... and stays like that

That is weird, I've heard about rendering problems on Macs, I don't have much experience there since I'm on a PC. Are you using the latest service pack for that version of Maya? Any third party plugins? If so, disable them and try again. Also try backing up your maya preferences folder and switching it out for the defaults.

Think i need my IT Dept to just format this thing. -.- only worry it is a hardware problem. see it has been working fine for over a year and now all of a sudden this happens. >.< Think i will try reinstalling Maya.

I'm not sure if you solved this yet, but it might be because of Dropbox. I was having the same problem and I use Sugarsync to watch the directory that the batch render writes to. Turning off Sugarsync seems to help. Turning off dropbox or anything else that monitors your write folder will help.

Seems like a licensing problem to me. Look at the log and count how many times you see ADLM. (Autodesk License Manager)
