Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

unwanted transform nodes

Hi,
I am assembling my rig into its final hierarchy. When I parent the clavicle jnt joint chains (left/right) to their respective nodes, in this case the sternum, Maya adds an additional transform node between the parent group node and the clavicle joint chain. I do not know why it is doing this and I cannot get rid of it. If I try unparenting the joint chain Maya just creates a new transform node above the first joint.
The transform attributes on the newly created node are zeros and plus and minus zeros on translate and rotate and the scale attrs set to one.
Does anyone have an explanation for why these new transform nodes are being created?

Thanks,
Ron

EDIT

Never mind. Got it worked out. Apparently this is just a null group node named transform. No problem to get rid of, just ungroup. I still do not know why Maya is adding it so if anyone has ideas about that I would knike to hear them.

Thanks,
Ron
