I also try to do Kurts Tut and make a Dog in Maya.
My problem is this:
i convert the head and the neck from nurbs to polygon, then i should select the neck an hit enter/insert? the same thing with the head and then the boolean operation.
But, nothing happend typing insert or enter.
Any idea? What does this effect, when i know this i could try to use the menu?!

Booleans in Maya can be quite whimsical...
Make sure your geometry is well inside one another.
I suggest you consider not using booleans. I found them quite unsatisfactory.
There is a different approach - combining an merging vertices/edges. It is mentioned later in the tutorial.

Stuck in 3d line mode.

Hi Guys, I'm new to maya.

Started doing the cartoon dog tutorial, but came up with a problem when making the head.

My sphere is in 3d line mode. I want it looking like 2d, to make it easier to grab the correct lines and stretch them.

I am using Maya 2008.

Anyone know how I can view the sphere for the head in 2d mode plz?

Thanks in advance.

you should really starrt a new thread for this

but anywho, why not just switch your view to an orthographic view?
hit space bar and you'll see the other views (assuming the four panel layout was the last alternate layout)

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"
