Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Texture inputs

hey all, basically i just wanted to know where each texture input is placed? for example - using a blinn

(Q1a) does the difuse texture go into the disfuse input. because i always put it into the color input. is there any difference?

(Q1b) also in specular shading - there are multiple inputs.

(Q2) where are these same inputs on other types of nodes? eg. lambert etc.

thanks.

Keep plugging the color texture into the color channel. The diffuse will just affect how dark or bright the shader will appear.

That wasn't really a question so you lost me there lol :p

Lambert is a matte surface material and will not have specular attributes. I find the Blinn to be a very versatile shader as it can easily look lambertion if you kill the spec and reflect values.
