Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Monitor randomly shuts off

I have a 3 yo viewsonic monitor. It works perfect most everything but every now and then Maya and it don't play well. I can usually play for 30 mins-2 hours before I get a DVI-D No Signal error. There's nothing I can do besides reset.

I have googled this error and the results are I've not learned anything new. My monitor has two sets of cables, one blue and one white. I can only use the white one. I am confused why though the monitor would just turn itself off when I'm playing.

If I could this solved it would be super awesome. Thank you.

By blue and white cables, do you mean VGA and DVI respectively? Does your graphics card not have VGA out, is that why you can only use the white one? I would try to see if it's the cable if you can find/borrow another DVI cable. Make sure the connection is solid both at the monitor and the computer.

I guess those are the two I mean.

I cannot swap cables, the ends into the monitor are not screw in like to the tower, in the monitor they cannot be removed...

I am looking at this as a heat issue, other forums etc.

It may be your video card resetting itself. It's known as VPU Recover on Ati cards; I'm not sure what it's called on Nvidia.

Pretty much what it does, is when it detects that the video card has stopped responding, it resets it. This will make your monitor shut off, and usually come back on. I've never had it just stop like that.

What video card do you use?

It could power problem .If the refresh rate solution mentioned earlier doesn't work, check your screen's user manual and see if it has its own, built-in power saving feature.
