Problem to name material

In a material and named as "material1" After I deleted the material.
Now I can no longer name with that name "material1" because the switch to Maya "material2" automatically
I think that is because it is stored in memory ... I do not know.
How do I do in order to name again as "material1"?

Go to window>rendering editors>hypershade and make sure you've deleted the material1 from your scene altogether.

Ok! I think that my project is messy. Because I'm trying to name with material deleted and the name change to another.
So some element in project is using this name that I want.
Also I will re-import the file in a new project to clean this possible hided files.
