Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

A simple question about the extrude tool

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if there is an option which seperates the extrude operation when you have multiple faces selected in Maya 2012. You could toggle this behaviour in Maya 2011 by clicking on Edit Mesh > Keep Faces together, but this option isn’t available anymore in Maya 2012. I need this to work efficiently, so I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to get to it in Maya 2012.

Thanks in advance,
Joshua

Hi Joshua,

option Keep Faces Together is still in Maya 2012. Under Edit Mesh first thing below is that what are you looking for.

yep keep faces together is available in both the create polygon and nurbs menus as well as an option in the creation node of the poly or nurbs object.

Thank you all for your answers! user added image

As it turned out, I had the wrong menu set collected. I feel kind of stupid now, but at least I’ll know what to do next time I don’t find a menu in Maya. user added image

Cheers,
Joshua.
