Mental ray ambient occlusion

Hey guys, i've been using mental ray's ambient occlusion for a while but never got around to figuring out how to contol it globally, i just turn it on and that's it. I never could find the global settings that control attributes like ray length, etc. It's probably dumb but maybe somebody could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

When you say you turn on AO, are you talking like on a per shader basis like the mia or using a pass (each pass has attributes you can edit)? The question is kind of broad since there are multiple ways going about it.
