I imported a scene from 3ds max 10 into maya using the obj option. The scene seemed to work properly until I started to render it with physical sun and sky. I applied a mia mat material to all the objects and whenever I added a reflection value the scene appeared washed up. I have tried Importing numerous times but I always end up with same result. This is what Im talking about. The first Image is with reflectivity value at 0. the next one has been cranked up to 1
There's a disconnect in the shading of the scene. I'm looking at the floor in the second pic and it doesn't seem to be reflecting the furniture at all. Could it be that since you've imported them as obj the 'visible in reflections' attr is unchecked? Objs tend to do that.
