refrencing question

Hello there,

Just a question or rather a suggestion :
Can we use refrencing in maya 2011/12 for an objects which are to be simulated in the scene such as N Cloth or hair etc.

If yes then is it possible simulate a referenced object in the current scene ??

Or if someone can suggest a better workaround or the correct process !!

Dave, I think simplycreative is talking about referencing an object from another scene. I don't see why that wouldn't work, if you mean referencing just the unsimulated object, and then the simulation is done in the new scene. But I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it. Can I ask why it needs to be referenced?
