Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.
I'm new to Maya & was wondering if there's a way to make a surface out of this curve, so that I could insert edge loops/extrude, etc...
I tried creating the shape out of a polygon plane and moved vertices according to the shape, but then when I extrude & add edge loops (to smooth out later), the edges lie on top of one another.
You could try starting with a 20 sided cylinder (since the shape in question is a 10 point star). Then select every other vertex on the edge and scale them inwards.
