Depth Layer - Mental ray - ramp banding
Hello,
I have been trying to use this technique here:

to make a render layer that renders depth with mental ray (i need to preserve smooth mesh so cant use the luminance depth preset that works with maya software render)
basically all works fine apart from that the ramp isn't blending smoothly i get steps/banding in the colour..
I have got it at: framebuffer RGB (Float) 3x32 bit and rendering as exr
I have tried linear and smooth interpolation on the ramp, that changes nothing
The same shader set up works without the banding with the maya software render but in mental ray i get the error.
any suggestions would be very much appreciated,
