Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

beveling Problem

Hello everyone,
I encountered a problem when I was modeling this

user added image

Corners of the door are more rounded than the edges of that. By Beveling the a polyCube, all of edges will be beveled eqally whereas the corners are more beveled.
How can I model the door?

There are several options. You could bevel everything and spread the resulting edges out to get a softer corner. Or you could manually place edge loops with tighter edge loops on the sharp corners and more spread out edge loops at the rounder area. Or you could use creases, which is you can look up how to use.

You can do it Stwert way or you could smoothing with edge loops to control the different rounded edges, its just a case of whats quicker for you...............dave

I've tested those methods, but dosen't work in my case.
could you please visually show me the best method?

All of those methods would work fine. Here's some screenshots for the edge loop method, like Dave suggested. I wasn't going to go to the trouble, but hopefully other people will benefit from this quick demo too.

Thanks a lot!
I found the problem. I should make the model beveled then insert other edges. I did it vice versa!

When modelling some thing like this it is much easier to model the whole unit then cut the doors out, because I used a bevel on the main corners with a lot of sections its possible to just smooth the door with the handle without smoothing the rest of the unit.......................dave

Thank you very much for your attention.
I found that I should model different parts seprately than by extruding everything.
Could you plz show me a comprehensive (and of cource "free") reference for polygon modeling?user added image
