Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

How to add / import shaders

I am sure this is a stupid question with an obvious answer but how do you add shaders to the hypershade / Maya? There are some good ones I found around the place I want to try and I don't know where to put them.

I usually do this;

1) Go to the menu in hypershade and choose import

or

2) Open up my windows explorer and LMB drag a shader file onto the hypershade

3) Choose from the directory list in hypershade.

I never got my shaders really organized, so the shader directory is just there.
